Laminate Flooring
The great aspect about laminate flooring is that it looks like regular wood but is much easier to install. It also has a longer shelf life. The striking similarity between hardwood and laminate flooring is confusing. You can notice a grain pattern similar to wood but this is décor paper placed under a highly protective cover. This is stuck onto a backing board of tough density. There is a multitude of effects such as ceramic and stone available in laminate flooring.
One of the biggest advantages about laminate flooring is that it is very durable, easy in installation and cheaper in price in comparison with hardwood. The other advantage is that laminate flooring is not stuck to the floor beneath. Only panels are stuck together. Thus, it facilitates installation in an easy manner. The tongue and grooves of the planks are placed together and clicked to adhere. The connection is thus tight.
Laminate flooring reproduces the look of more expensive wood or stone flooring, but costs much less. Laminate flooring has a fiberboard core with a photographic layer on top, and is covered on top and bottom by a layer of plastic. It comes in long planks that snap together and is easy to install yourself. Laminate flooring resists stains and fading better than wood, but because it is an imitation, it doesn't add value to your home like natural wood or stone. Laminate floors are durable and wear well, but they cannot be refinished and must be replaced when damaged. Because it has a fiberboard core, large spills can damage a laminate floor. For another choice that looks like wood but costs less, reviews recommend engineered wood flooring (*est. $5 to $10 per sq. ft.) which has a thicker veneer that can be sanded and refinished one to three times.
